How do I know which offer is right for me?
It’s completely normal to feel unsure about which path fits your situation best.
If you fill in the contact form, we can schedule a short call to explore this together. You’re not committing to anything. It simply gives us the opportunity to reflect on what would suit you best.
It’s a win-win: I can guide you, and you can get a sense of whether it feels right.

What is EMDR?
EMDR is a structured method that helps reduce the emotional intensity of difficult memories, triggers, or beliefs.
When emotional weight decreases, memories feel less sharp and less overwhelming and new insights can emerge.

Your brain has a limited working memory. When you recall a distressing memory while simultaneously focusing on a task, such as following a moving blue dot on the screen, the emotional charge gradually reduces.

During a session, I guide you through this process while checking in on what you notice. Over time, what once felt intense becomes neutral and easier to carry. You remain fully aware and in control throughout.

How does online therapy work and is it effective?
Sessions take place via secure video call. I often share my screen so you can clearly follow what I’m explaining or engage in exercises - making the process structured, practical, and easier to remember afterwards.

Research shows that online therapy is just as effective as in-person sessions. Many clients appreciate the flexibility: no travel time, no taking hours off work, and the comfort of staying in your own familiar environment.

For EMDR specifically, the online format often works very well. While following the moving blue dot on the screen, your focus shifts inward rather than toward me. This helps you stay with your internal sensations and supports the processing in a natural way.

Do I need to know exactly what's wrong?
No. In fact, many clients don’t.

Not knowing exactly what’s going on is often part of the problem. You may just feel overwhelmed, stuck, or “off” without being able to name it clearly.

That’s exactly what we work on together. In a professional, warm, and structured way, we explore what’s underneath, clarify what’s really happening, and address it step by step.

From there, clarity and calm naturally follow.

What if I've tried before and it didn't work?
Sometimes talking alone isn’t enough. Sometimes the core belief or emotional charge wasn’t addressed directly. And sometimes it simply wasn’t the right match or method at that time.

If this resonates, you’re welcome to reach out. The fact that it didn’t fully work before already gives us valuable information and I’d be happy to look at that together. Even a short conversation can offer clarity. I’ll always be honest about whether I believe I’m the right person to support you.

Previous experiences don’t mean it won’t work for you now.

Is one, three, or five sessions really enough?
Yes!! A lot can shift in one focused session. Many clients already notice change within the first 15 minutes when we work directly on what matters.

Because the sessions are structured and targeted, one, three, or five appointments can create meaningful movement.
If you feel you’d like more support afterwards, we can always decide per session what feels right. There’s no long-term commitment - we evaluate together.

Do I need a referral or diagnosis?
No. You don’t need a referral or diagnosis.
This allows you to begin privately, without long waiting lists or having a label placed on you. We focus on clarity and growth, not on medical classifications.

Is this reimbursed by insurance?
In my private practice, sessions are not reimbursed by health insurance.

If insured and more specialised mental health care is needed, treatment can take place through The Mind Firm — a specialised psychotherapy practice in Amsterdam — under the guidance of a licensed lead practitioner. In that setting, a referral from your GP and a formal diagnosis are required.

If you’re unsure what applies to you, I’m happy to think it through with you and guide you in the right direction. Feel free to fill in the contact form to get in touch.
